What is Percocet?

Percocet 7.5/325mg contains a combination of acetaminophen and oxycodone. Oxycodone is an opioid pain medication. An opioid is sometimes called a narcotic. Acetaminophen is a less potent pain reliever that increases the effects of oxycodone.

Percocet 7.5/325mg is only prescribed when non-opioid pain-relieving medications are not tolerated or do not provide adequate pain relief. It is associated with addiction, abuse, and misuse, even at recommended doses.

Warnings

Alcohol, sedatives, tranquilizers, and opioid medications should not be used together with Percocet 7.5/325mg. If you have used an MAO inhibitor in the past 14 days, such as isocarboxazid, linezolid, phenelzine, rasagiline, selegiline, or tranylcypromine, or received a methylene blue injection, do not use Percocet.

Your breathing can be slowed or stopped when you take Oxycodone, and it may be habit-forming.

MEDICINE MISUSE CAN CAUSE ADDICTION, OVERDOSE, OR DEATH, especially in children.

How should I take Percocet?

Take Percocet exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Follow all directions on your prescription label. Never take this medicine in larger amounts, or for longer than prescribed.

What happens if I miss a dose?

Since Percocet 7.5/325mg is used for pain, you are not likely to miss a dose. Skip any missed dose if it is almost time for your next dose.

How does overdosing affect me?

You should seek emergency medical attention or call the Poison Help line at 1-800-222-1222. In children and other people who use this medicine without a prescription, an overdose can be fatal.

Percocet will be affected by what other drugs?

When you start or stop taking certain other medicines, you may experience breathing problems or withdrawal symptoms. If you also take an antibiotic, antifungal medication, heart medication, blood pressure medication, seizure medication, or medicine for HIV or hepatitis C, tell your doctor.

Ask a doctor or pharmacist before using any other medicine that may contain acetaminophen (sometimes abbreviated as APAP). Taking certain medications together can lead to a fatal overdose.
