What is OxyContin?
OxyContin is an opioid pain medication sometimes called a narcotic.
Oxycontinn OP 15mg is a potent prescription medicine used when an opioid medicine is needed to manage severe pain enough to require daily around-the-clock, long-term treatment with an opioid when other pain treatments such as non-opioid pain medicines or immediate-release opioid medicines do not treat your pain well enough or you cannot tolerate them.
Oxycontin OP 15mg is not to be used as needed for pain that is not around the clock.
Warnings
If you have severe asthma or breathing problems, or a blockage in your stomach or intestines, you should not use OxyContin.
Keep Oxycontin OP 15mg in a place where others cannot access it to prevent addiction, overdose, or death caused by misuse.
A newborn who is exposed to oxycodone during pregnancy may suffer life-threatening withdrawal symptoms.
OxyContin can cause fatal side effects if used with alcohol or other drugs that cause drowsiness or breathing problems.
What happens if I miss a dose?
Since OxyContin is used for pain, you are not likely to miss a dose. Skip any missed dose if it is almost time for your next dose. Do not use two doses at one time.
What happens if I overdose?
Call 1-800-222-1222 for Poison Help or seek emergency medical attention. Using Oxycontin OP 15mg without a prescription can result in an overdose, particularly in children. The symptoms of an overdose may include severe drowsiness, pinpoint pupils, slow breathing, or no breathing at all.
It is important to keep naloxone (a medicine that reverses opioid overdoses) on you at all times if your doctor recommends that you do so. Until you receive emergency medical treatment, your caregiver may need to perform CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation).
What should I avoid while using OxyContin?
Do not drink alcohol. Dangerous side effects or death could occur.
Avoid driving or operating machinery until you know how oxycodone will affect you. Dizziness or severe drowsiness can cause falls or other accidents.
Avoid medication errors. Always check the brand and strength of oxycodone you get from the pharmacy.
OxyContin side effects
